Composite Fillings

A composite filling is used to restore a tooth damaged by decay or injury. Unlike older metal fillings, composite fillings are made from resin that can match the natural color of your teeth, making them more aesthetically pleasing.

Composite Filling Procedure:

Anesthesia

Local anesthesia is administered to numb the area around the tooth.

Tooth Preparation

The decayed or damaged part of the tooth is removed, and the area is cleaned and prepared for the filling.

Resin Application

The composite resin is applied in layers and hardened with a special light (LED or halogen). This process is known as photopolymerization.

Shaping and Polishing

Once hardened, the filling is shaped to fit the tooth and polished to match the natural tooth surface.

Occlusion Check

The dentist ensures that the restored tooth aligns properly with adjacent teeth and makes any necessary adjustments.
